n 1863, Alfred Denis joined his 2 brothers in Saigon, and a first cargo of 250 tons of rice left for France. Alphonse, the younger son, arrived in 1868 and made the impulsive decision to develop business by creating a substantial rice-processing plant in Saigon to improve the quality of this product and to organize its exploitation and marketing under the best conditions. It’s by the innovation of transforming cargo rice into white rice that the volume of business would grow continually.
